Vendor Payments and 1099 Review¶
Use Vendor Payments to review vendor spend by accounting period or payments for a calendar year. Open it from the Reports Dashboard or the vendor reports menu.

| Start period / End period | Available in Payment Analysis. Enter the first and last accounting periods to include, such as 2026-01 through 2026-12. Both months are included. |

Select Apply after changing the report settings. Credence remembers your choices for the next time you open this report.
Payment Analysis: when the invoice was booked¶
Payment Analysis uses each payable's accounting period to decide whether it belongs in the report and which month it appears in.
- An invoice marked Paid contributes its full amount, including when it has no bank match.
- For other invoices, the report includes the portion matched to bank transactions.
For example, an invoice booked in December 2025 and paid in January 2026 appears under December 2025 in Payment Analysis.
1099 Review: when the bank payment was recorded¶
1099 Review uses bank transactions matched to vendor invoices. The bank posting date determines the year and month. If that date is missing, Credence uses the transaction date.
An invoice booked in December 2025 with a bank payment posted in January 2026 appears in the 2026 review. If an invoice is paid in several installments, each matched payment appears in its own payment year and month.
Gross, Refunds, and Net include posted bank transactions with a recorded date and amount. Pending or excluded transactions do not contribute. Marking an invoice Paid or submitting a payment batch does not add an amount to these columns on its own.
Reading the columns¶
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Gross | Spend before refunds in Payment Analysis, or confirmed matched payments before refunds in 1099 Review. |
| Refunds | Refunds and credits, shown as positive amounts. |
| Net | Gross less Refunds. Monthly Breakdown shows this amount by month. |
| Unmatched Paid | In 1099 Review, the remaining balance on invoices marked Paid without enough confirmed bank matches. See below for how the year is chosen. |
Amounts in different currencies stay separate. Payment Analysis uses the invoice currency; 1099 payment totals use the bank transaction currency, falling back to the bank account currency. UNKNOWN means no currency is recorded. Credence does not convert amounts between currencies. If a payment was made in another currency, its recorded invoice-currency amount is needed to calculate partial spend or the unmatched balance.
Unmatched Paid¶
This column includes invoices with accounting periods in the selected tax year. For those invoices, Credence subtracts confirmed bank matches from all dates, including payments in earlier or later years. Pending and excluded matches do not reduce the balance.
For example, a $1,000 invoice booked in 2026 and marked Paid, with a $400 bank match in 2027, shows $600 as Unmatched Paid in the 2026 review. The $400 payment appears in the 2027 payment totals.
Unmatched Paid uses invoice currency and stays separate from Gross, Refunds, Net, and the monthly amounts. It identifies balances to check; the accounting period does not establish when they were paid. Credits or bank matches exceeding the invoice amount can produce a negative balance.
Vendor details and downloads¶
In 1099 Review, vendor records with the same valid vendor TIN are combined across the selected properties. Records with missing or invalid TINs stay separate. The Property column lists the properties contributing to each vendor's row.
Vendor TINs show only their last four digits on screen. The XLSX download includes full TINs, legal names, addresses, and currencies.
Use Download to export both Summary and Monthly Breakdown sheets. The workbook includes all matching vendors across all pages. In 1099 Review, both sheets include Unmatched Paid. Reports Dashboard packets use your saved report settings.
The report covers vendor payables and their matched bank transactions. Payments entered directly as bank expenses and owner distributions outside vendor payables are not included.
