Budgets

A budget is a property-level projection of income and expense by account across a range of accounting periods. Credence uses the primary budget for Budget vs Actuals and other comparisons.

Viewing a Budget

The overview table shows each account, prior-year actuals for the same date range, the budget total, per-area amounts, and period columns.

Use Report Settings to choose a Chart of Accounts. The selection is shared with financial reports.

Chart of Accounts

The default view lists each property account as it is stored on the budget. Amounts stay on those local accounts. Copy-to-budget and account-level edits use this grain.

Credence COA

Choose the Credence COA to review the same budget on Credence accounts. Credence rolls each budget line up by that property account's mapping to the Credence chart. Two local accounts that map to the same Credence account appear as one row. Property accounts that are not mapped to a Credence account are omitted from this view.

Prior-year actuals on the Credence COA also use mapped Credence accounts.

Copying a manual line to another budget is available only on an external Chart of Accounts, because those copies target a specific property account.

Aggregated Budgets

You can combine saved budgets for multiple properties when they share the same start and end periods.

An external Chart of Accounts still requires every selected property to sit on that same chart. Use the Credence COA to aggregate properties that sit on different external charts. Credence rolls each property's budget lines up by mapped Credence accounts, the same way Budget vs Actuals consolidates mixed-chart portfolios.

Common Scenarios

  • A controller reviews one property budget on the property chart, then switches to the Credence COA to match the portfolio income statement.
  • An asset manager aggregates two properties that use different external charts by selecting the Credence COA, so rent on each property's local account appears as one Credence rental-income row.
